South by Southwest
South By Southwest Cocktail

Ehren Ashkenazi, Wine Director of The Modern, brings us the South by Southwest! Hibiscus flowers are treated as a delicacy in many aspects of Mexican cuisine and with this cocktail it rounds out the spicy citrus from the Tequila with tart red fruit notes. It takes its inspiration from the classic Southside cocktail (gin, lemon, mint, sugar), and harnesses ingredients indigenous to Mexico, hence “South” by “Southwest”.

  • 2 oz Gran Centenario Plata
  • 1/1 oz Lime Juice
  • 3/4 oz Simple Syrup
  • 2 fresh lime wedges
  • 7 or 8 Mint Leaves
  • P&H Hibiscus Syrup

  • Muddle lime wedges with simple syrup and mint.
  • Add the lime juice and Gran Centenario Plata.
  • Hard shake and pour into a rock glass.
  • Drizzle with hibiscus syrup.
  • Garnish with lime wedge if desired.

Lovage Gin Fizz

Our Lovage Syrup gets some of it's sweetness from golden raisins, a flavor which also helps round out its herbacious nature. It's widely used in kitchens all over the world. It is also a popular addition to cocktails in bars and restaurants.

In a 12oz glass with ice add:
  • 1 1/2 oz any good Gin (Hendricks is our fav!)
  • 1 oz P&H Lovage Syrup
  • Top with Seltzer water and a squeeze of lime juice.
  • Garnish with a lime wedge and enjoy!

The Wild Eden

If you're looking to make some simple, yet uniquely flavored cocktails. Our favorite is the Wild Eden, a blend of three delicate flavors; gin, elderflower liqueur and hibiscus, topped with prosecco.

  • 3/4 ounce gin
  • 3/4 ounce St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur
  • 3/4 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/2 ounce P&H Hibiscus Syrup
  • Prosecco

Shake the gin, St. Germain, lemon juice and Wild Hibiscus Rose Syrup in an ice filled shaker. Strain into a Martini glass and top with Prosecco.
